When designing, the size, shape and material characteristics of the exhibits must be carefully considered to ensure that the display case can provide sufficient space and appropriate support for each exhibit.

I. Principle of adapting the size of exhibits
Reserve space
The internal size of the display cabinet should be 10%-20% larger than the size of the exhibits2, which is convenient for the audience to observe from multiple angles and avoid visual blockage. For example, large exhibits (e.g. automobiles) need to reserve a viewing distance of more than 5000mm1, while small exhibits (e.g. jewelry) are controlled at a close viewing range of 800-1200mm1.

Shape Matching
Choose the type of display cabinets according to the shape of the exhibits: vertical display cabinets (height 1.8-2.2 meters) are suitable for cultural relics display3, hanging display cabinets (depth 0.3-0.6 meters) are suitable for lightweight artwork3, and desktop display cabinets (height 0.8-1.2 meters) are suitable for exhibits that need to be viewed from above3.

Material Characteristics and Support Design
Material coordination and safety
Choose materials that match the characteristics of the exhibits: low-iron glass can reduce reflective interference4, and stainless steel or aluminum alloy frames can stably support heavy exhibits (e.g., sculptures)4. At the same time, the chemical stability of the materials should be considered to avoid reacting with the exhibits (e.g., bronzes need to be made of acid-resistant materials)4.
